March in the PRIDE Parade

8 JUNE 2024

Be a part of the 2024 National Capital Pride Parade with Foundry and other United Methodists from the DMV!

There will be more than 30 United Methodist churches and affiliates participating. Here are some details:

Plan to meet somewhere on 15th Street NW (between U and P streets), the exact location to be shared with registered participants the day before the parade. Look out for the big sign on the float that will say United Methodists Churches in it.

All participants should plan to arrive at the staging location by 2:30PM on Saturday, June 8th, 2024 (U Street will be the closest metro).  (Or 3 to 3:15 particularly if you have young children, from our staging area we think we will be closer to the front than back of the parade)

We will have communion at 2:30PM.

Participants are asked to stay around for a few minutes at the conclusion of the parade to help tear down the float before disbursing.

Please refer to more contingent resources, including a route map and staging area map here.

Call service at the parade can be unreliable. If anything changes last minute on your availability, no worries.

Pride Parade participants are encouraged to:

Use public transportation

Wear light-weight, breathable clothing and comfortable/sturdy walking shoes

Wear a solid pride color T-shirt. No individual church signage or t-shirts are allowed.

Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated during the parade

Wear sunscreen and/or other UV protective gear

Check the forecast the day of and bring weather-appropriate gear
