ABOUT

Kaylon Kirk

Kaylon Kirk joined Foundry United Methodist Church as Director of Digital Engagement in April 2021. A lifelong Methodist and an online churchgoer for much of her adult life, Kaylon brought to Foundry her passion for connecting people to an inclusive, immersive digital worship experience.

A believer in the power of the online experience, Kaylon is largely focused on creating community and connection, and telling Foundry’s story to those both near and far. Some of her recent and ongoing projects include improving accessibility for our website users, regardless of ability or use of assistive technologies; developing Foundry’s new brand and style guidelines; and incorporating more multimedia into the overall Foundry online experience. Kaylon also serves as Executive Assistant to Senior Pastor Ginger Gaines-Cirelli.

Prior to coming to Foundry, Kaylon spent most of her career working in higher education and the non-profit world. She led digital communications efforts for the University of North Carolina, both at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and for their Division of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity and Compliance.

Prior to that, Kaylon lived out her childhood dream of being a librarian working for the UNC-Chapel Hill Undergraduate Library, and was able to combine her love of fundraising and sports while interning with The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

Kaylon received both her B.A. in Public Relations and her M.A. in Technology and Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While at Carolina, Kaylon attended the Hussman School of Journalism and Media, exploring strategic ways to use digital media to both reach new audiences and call people to action.

Her Master’s thesis focused on the use of digital technology in congressional politics. Her work as a student earned her recognition at the national level, including being named a finalist at South by Southwest and short-listed at The Webby Awards.

Kaylon grew up in Pinehurst and Chapel Hill, North Carolina, but has also spent time living in Texas, Missouri, Alabama, and Nebraska. She enjoys eating spicy food, amateur photography, and practicing her lifelong love of swimming whenever she has the time.
