“How silently, how silently, the wondrous gift is given…” For many, this season is full of shopping, wrapping, giving, and receiving gifts. It is a beautiful tradition connected to the stories of Christmas–celebrating the birth of Jesus and remembering how the magi brought gifts to honor him. Sometimes we may feel pressure to find the “perfect” gift for someone. But our spiritual tradition reminds us that there are many ways to offer gifts: through sharing words of love, doing acts of kindness, reaching out in service, and being generous with our time and attention. All of this is in response to the gifts we receive from God.
Through this series, we will pay attention to those good, “silently-given” gifts amidst the noise of the season. We will search and prepare for, receive, and celebrate the only truly perfect gift: Jesus Christ our Lord.
