Foundry’s LGBTQIA+ Advocacy team works within the United Methodist denomination for inclusion of LGBTQIA+ persons in the life and ministry of the church. Our team works to be a witness for full inclusion at both Annual and General Conferences. We also connect with local congregations regarding questions and challenges of being or becoming reconciling congregations. Our team is a welcoming presence at both Capital Pride and TransPride, as well as several other community events.
Foundry’s LGBTQ+ Small Group gathers to create community beyond weekly worship, and maintains a strong connection with the larger congregation. We express our Christian faith through Wesleyan traditions as members or affiliates of the UMC. Our expression of faith intersects with our LGBTQ+ identity, and neither alone defines us.
Join Foundry’s LGBTQ+ Community for a once-a-month potluck at various locations and homes throughout the DMV. Participants are asked to bring a generous dish to share and a heart for fellowship and fun. For more information, email us at lgbtqpotlucks@foundryumc.org.
Foundry United Methodist Church strives to be an inclusive congregation committed to the reconciliation of all people to God and to one another through Jesus Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit dwells in all, and we invite all people to share our faith, our community life and our ministries. We celebrate diversity; whether you identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, straight, queer or any other identity, we affirm you and we believe God does the same. To all, regardless of age, race, color, ethnicity, immigration status, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, economic condition, or physical or mental ability, we proclaim: God loves you, and we love you. We welcome you, and we invite you to join us on our shared journey.
