Journey to Racial Justice (JRJ) is Foundry’s initiative, created to fulfill one of our core values that states
We celebrate diversity, with the vision of making sure that people who feel excluded elsewhere are welcomed and invited to be an integral part of our congregation.
As part of this initiative, the Racial Justice and Equity Steering Committee, working with an outside consultant, has begun to take steps to fulfill the resolution. These steps will include:
A survey to identify Foundry’s challenges and strengths in the areas of racial justice and equity
Workshops and gatherings to enhance awareness and offer opportunities for capacity building among the staff, clergy, and the congregation
Focus groups with select staff and members
The creation of 3-year racial equity and justice plan
With this plan, we believe that Foundry will be well equipped to embark on a fruitful Journey to Racial Justice.
