On Sunday, August 8, Foundry United Methodist Church will wrap up its summer guest preacher series celebrating 65 years of full clergy rights for women in the Methodist Church by hosting Stacey Abrams as a guest preacher, followed by a women’s leadership panel featuring nine influential female pastors with diverse areas of ministry and personal contexts.
Beginning at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, Foundry’s worship service will feature Stacey Abrams as a guest preacher. Her sermon title will be “To Share in Its Blessings” and will focus on I Corinthians 9: 7-12 and 23-27. The child of two Methodist reverends, Stacey Abrams and the work that she does represents a powerful intersection of so many things: faith, politics, gender, race, and more.
Following the worship service, the women’s leadership panel, titled “Nevertheless She Leads: Celebrating Women’s Leadership in the Methodist Church,” will begin at 12:30 p.m. The panel will be hosted and moderated by Foundry’s Senior Pastor, Rev. Ginger E. Gaines-Cirelli, and will feature the following panelists:
