Mark Abe is a native Minnesotan who has been in Northern VA for almost 38 years and at Foundry for the past 19. He was raised United Methodist but his spiritual journey took him through Baptist, interdenominational, and Episcopal churches before coming full circle back to the Methodist church when he joined Foundry.
He has served as co-leader of the LGBT group, member of the Books to Prisons ministry, Scripture reader, Sacred Resistance team member, and communion steward.
Recently retired, he now enjoys waking up naturally and pursuing interests in writing, photography, and Spanish, as well as volunteering for the DC Rawhides, a non-profit organization that hosts regular gay country/western dance (two-step/line dance) events. He lives with his feline employer, Gonzalo, in Alexandria but hopes to relocate to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Guy CecilGuy Cecil is a native Floridian and has lived in Washington since 2001 where he lives with his husband Ed McNulty. He is a nationally-recognized political strategist and currently the Chairman of Priorities USA and President of Miles Strategies.
He is the former Executive Director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and National Political Director for Hillary Clinton.
Guy has served on local and national boards including Color of Change, Run for Something, Faith Forward, and EL Haynes PCS. Guy has been active in several Foundry ministries and is currently a delegate to the BWC Annual Conference. He is an avid fan of the Florida Gators.
Cathy, originally from Michigan, moved to Washington in 1975 with her husband, Bob, and began her career as an attorney at the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division.
She joined Foundry in 1980, and her daughters, Mairead and Clare, grew up in the church. Over the years, Cathy has taught Sunday School; served on the Staff-Parish Relations Committee, the Board of Trustees, and the Mission Council; and participated in a variety of social justice activities.
Since her retirement in 2013, Cathy has volunteered with the ID Mission and served on the Governance and Scholarship committees. She enjoys gardening, history, and leisurely walks.
