Schedule: Monday-Friday on site, 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with 30-minute lunch break

The Operations Manager is a vital member of the Foundry United Methodist Church staff, a large

downtown Washington DC church whose diverse, ecumenical congregation and tradition of

leadership in the community dates back to 1814. The Operations Manager shares Foundry’s core

values, among them a belief in Christ and His teachings, the commandment to serve others and to

act and speak for the powerless, a compelling desire for diversity, and full inclusion of all God’s

children in the life of the church, and the critical nature of curiosity and intellectual honesty as we

discern God’s path for us.

The Operations Manager provides wraparound services for the Foundry United Methodist Church

program staff. Successfully performing these services is essential for the church's smooth

functioning.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

PROJECT MANAGEMENT 40%

  • Receives all project requests from the Program Team.
  • Manages the project life cycle, including delegating support to appropriate teammates within two business days of project submission.
  • Oversees the onboarding, training, and scheduling of Hospitality and Front Desk Staff.
  • Embodies ‘radical hospitality’ and encourages staff to do the same.
  • Leads the process for project event planning and execution.


RESOURCE MANAGEMENT 30%

  • Maintains master schedule through PCO Resources and Zoom.
  • Conducts weekly walk-throughs of the Facility, noting key areas in need of improvement and repair. Notes them for the Facilities Contractor and Hospitality Team and provides follow-up action items.
  • Review building use requests and respond within two business days.
  • Reserves staff building use requests and approves Committee/Board requests.
  • Instructs Facilities Management Contractor to provide resource management support as needed.
  • Submits all Facilities Work Orders to FIIX (system software provided by Facilities
  • Management Contract) within one business day of staff submission or building identification.
  • Maintains and inventories all office supplies and general use office equipment.
  • Oversees maintenance schedule for all onsite office equipment.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.


DUTIES 30%

  • Schedules and manages the Hospitality Team, Front Desk Coordinator, and Facilities Management Contractor.
  • Manages monthly expenses against church PEX Card, providing proper account codes and approvals in a timely manner.
  • Subject Matter Expert for church database and congregant directory.
  • Maintain data integrity of the church database, including data input and coordination with relevant staff and volunteers, regularly updating clergy of any discrepancies.
  • Oversees weekly donation count by staff, receives final totals for entry into the donor database.
  • Participates in all staff meetings and retreats as directed.
  • Manage Microsoft SharePoint, Distribution Lists, and Group Lists.
  • Communicates effectively in written and spoken communication.
  • Possess the ability and willingness to:
  • Operate standard office equipment.
  • Use or quickly learn Foundry’s computer hardware and appropriate software.
  • Learn new programs/equipment and recommend appropriate processes.
  • Other duties as requested by the Senior Pastor and/or Executive Director of Operations and Impact.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree and/or 3-5 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Prior managerial experience in non-profit and/or faith-based environments.
  • Highly proficient in systems and attention to detail.
  • Keen awareness of hospitality ethos, customer service principles, and practices.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Proficient in ASANA Project Management Tool, Slack,
  • Willingness to learn Planning Center Online and BaseCamp Project Management Tool


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Regularly required to sit, to use hands to handle or feel, to reach with hands and arms, to talk, and to hear.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Physical presence required for all scheduled events as specified for this position, including but not limited to:
    • Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday
      • Funerals, Memorial Services, Weddings
      • Other Special Gatherings upon request
