Breaking the Cradle to Prison Pipeline
The statistics from the Children's Defense Fund are harrowing. 1 in 3 African American male youth born in 2001 will be incarcerated at some point in their life. The same is true for 1 in 6 Latino male youth born in that same year. Something must be done to ensure that our children have access to a brighter future regardless of the circumstances into which they were born. Foundry UMC is committed to helping break the cradle to prison pipeline that sees so many children born into poverty enter on what seems like an inviolable march into the US prison system. We believe that we as a nation can and must do better.
The Foundry Breaking the Cradle to Prison Pipeline ministry team has been charged with leading the congregation's efforts on this issue. Stay tuned into this webpage to learn more about how you can get involved with our efforts to bring justice to our country's youth.
